Andreas Weigend is the former Chief Scientist at Amazon.com and the author of over 100 scientific papers on the application of machine learning techniques to finance and business problems.
He currently lectures at Stanford University, at the University of California at Berkeley, and at the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business in China on the application of big data and predictive analytics to electronic commerce. He is an advisor to startups including eCommera, Rocketfuel, and Peerius, a limited partner in The Founders Fund, and consultant to Alibaba, Best Buy, Goldman Sachs, Lufthansa, SAP, SingTel, Thomson Reuters, and the World Economic Forum. During the World Marketing Forum Mexico 2013, event organized by WOBI yearly, Andreas Weigend said that the new oil is the big data.
